Romi’s Reading Roundup for 2023

I love the visual road map that Goodreads provides. These last few months have not been an easy time for me as a reader (or as a human) and I’ve had to apologize to many books. I tell them that it’s not them, it’s me, as we part ways and I abandon them in pursuit of something that can keep my attention. Even in the best of times, I tend to abandon a lot of books and I rarely give five stars.

With that said, here are the ten books that I rated with five stars in 2023 – here for your 2024 enjoyment. And here is the visual list of all of the books I read this year. I’d love to hear about the books that have kept you up turning pages deep into the night as well. May we all enjoy a healthy, happy and peaceful 2024.

Five Star Ratings!

  • The Heaven and Earth Grocery Store by James McBride
  • Lady Tan’s Circle of Women by Lisa See
  • No Two Persons by Erica Bauermeister
  • The Matchmaker’s Gift by Lynda Cohen Loigman
  • A Quiet Life by Ethan Joella
  • The Girls in the Stilt House by Kally Mustian
  • The Dead Romantics by Ashley Poston
  • Carolina Moonset by Matt Goldman
  • The Life Intended by Kristin Harmel
  • Fresh Water for Flowers by Valerie Perrin

  1. Romi,
I always look forward to your recommendations. Have loved the books you’ve chosen,
although I can’t read as many as you do, nor do I remember them as well. Thank you
    for guiding my selections.
