The year is coming to an end, and I always like to share my favorite books from the year. This year it was a very tall order to find books that would keep my interest while I was focused on my children at war, my country at war, my hostages in captivity, my displaced neighbors in the north and south….and on and on. So if the book made the cut this year, then it was truly a great one! I love sharing the Goodreads picture of all of my books from the year because it’s such a pretty compilation, and it’s a great way for others to browse and see what might look inviting.
In addition, I’m going to share a few of my favorite take-aways from this year.
- I gave five star ratings (which isn’t something I give often) to the following books: The Other Side of Beautiful, The Editor, Shiner, A Town Called Solace, The Love Elixir of Augusta Stern, The Sleepwalker’s Guide to Dancing, The Museum of Failures, The Wishing Game, Family Family, You Are Here, The Wedding People, From Sand and Ash, The House is on Fire and The Brilliant Life of Eudora Honeysett.
- I discovered a new author whose books I’ve really enjoyed. Her name is Libby Page. The Lido was absolutely adorable and The Island Home was quite nice.
- My favorite books are the ‘A Man Called Ove or Harold Frye type of format’ – where someone is lonely or down-and-out and they go through a journey to new discovery. If you have suggestions of this sort that I haven’t yet read – I’m all ears!
Happy reading everyone. May 2025 be a year that requires far, far less distractions and be filled with joy.
MY 2024 BOOKS
A) What app do you use to keep track of your reads?
B) I want to join your book club!
Hi Rivkah! I use Goodreads like a crazy person. Every book I read is there with a review and I actually can’t even go book browsing without checking my Goodreads to see if I already ready the book and what the rating of the book is. I don’t have a book club…lol…unless you could that my dad and I share a kindle account and we have a book club of 2!
OMG, Romi – I’ve read a few of these, probably because you suggested them and Nina downloaded on our shared Kindle library! What a list. I’m a little overwhelmed but will print this out and make my way through some of them. thanks!! Hope all is as well as it can be for you and those you love. Let’s see how the world holds together in 2025. Sending hugs.
How fun to hear from you Carol! The cutest part of this message was that you and Nina share a kindle library. My dad and I have had a 2 person bookclub for about 15 years and it is one of the greatest parts of my life. Keep enjoying reading and I’m so glad you’re going to read some of these books!
